Looking Ahead: Can California Win No. 9?
3 of 3California is the most decorated American state in the Little League Baseball World Series, with eight titles entering the 2026 tournament.
This year's squad, Sweetwater Valley Little League from San Bonita, has the potential to win a ninth title and etch their name in the history books at the same time.
The team defeated Hawaii in the West Region finale back on August 14, scoring 11 runs and sending a message to the rest of the field in the process.
The trip to Williamsport is not a routine one for the Sweetwater Valley team. It has not advanced to this LLWS since 2015, when both of its losses came at the hands of the eventual United States bracket runner-up, Texas.
It remains to be seen if California will add to its lengthy championship resume this year. Still, it will have a chance to get off to a hot start against the Midwest representative from Davenport, Iowa, as part of Thursday's Day Two slate.
