Jo Adell Sets Career High RBI, Final Box Score Stats and Updated AL Standings After Guardians Win

Every win is critically important in the crowded American League wild-card race, and Jo Adell led the Cleveland Guardians to a commanding one Tuesday.

Adell tallied three hits, including a home run, on his way to a career-high six RBI in Cleveland's 8-1 victory over the San Francisco Giants. Joe Reedy of the Associated Press noted the three-run homer traveled 455 feet in the first inning, which helped set the tone.

Here is a look at his box score stats and where the Guardians fit in the AL playoff race:

While it was largely a one-man show in the RBI department for Cleveland, third baseman José Ramírez added three hits as well.

It was a much-needed win for the Guardians, who have struggled with consistency of late and entered Tuesday's contest just 9-19 since the All-Star break. It has fallen behind in the AL Central as a result but is just one bounce-back stretch from reestablishing itself as a wild-card team.

Perhaps Tuesday was the start of that bounce-back effort.

If it was, it could start with Adell also turning things around. After all, he was just 7-for-42 (.167) since joining the Guardians ahead of the Aug. 4 trade deadline prior to Tuesday's breakthrough effort.

Cleveland acquired him from the Los Angeles Angels to add his power to the lineup. He launched 16 home runs in 111 games with the Angels before the trade and is just one season removed from his career-high 37 in 2025.

Having him return to that form would be quite the boost for a lineup that largely relies on Ramírez and Steven Kwan to lead the way.

Adell and the Guardians will look to clinch a series-win over the Giants on Wednesday at 6:40 p.m. ET.
