Caitlin Clark, Fever vs. Angel Reese, Dream Sets WNBA TV Viewership Record, How Many Fans Watched?
The Indiana Fever's 95-91 overtime win over the host Atlanta Dream on Sunday is now the most-watched WNBA game on cable in the league's 30-season history, per WNBA Communications, which provided the pertinent information.
This was an epic game between two playoff contenders featuring plenty of star power, to say the least. Each team features three All-Stars, with Indiana having Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston, and Atlanta having Allisha Gray, Rhyne Howard and Angel Reese.
The Fever were down eight points in the fourth quarter but tied the game at 81 after Mitchell hit a three-pointer with just over a minute left in regulation.
In overtime, Indiana forward Makayla Timpson scored six straight points, and Caitlin Clark hit two clutch free throws with 11 seconds left to help give the Fever the win.
Dream guard Allisha Gray led all scorers with 32 points. Clark scored 26 to go along with nine assists, while Mitchell and Timpson added 20 points apiece for the Fever.
For Atlanta, Reese had a 15-point, 14-rebound, six-assist outing, while Howard scored 17 points.
If the season ended today, the fourth-seeded Fever (23-12) would play the fifth-seeded Dream (21-13). They'll both assuredly make the playoffs at this point, with the only formalities being their seedings.
