Cowboys' Von Miller Reveals Unique Offer to Hunter Luepke for No. 40 Jersey After FA Contract

Von Miller wants to wear No. 40 for the Dallas Cowboys, but there's only one problem.

That is fullback Hunter Luepke's number.

Still, Miller is wearing the number at practice for his new team and told reporters Tuesday he even offered a lifetime of chicken to Luepke to wear it during the regular season:

Miller wore No. 58 during the peak of his career on the Denver Broncos before suiting up in No. 40 for the Los Angeles Rams and Buffalo Bills. He also wore No. 40 during his collegiate career at Texas A&M.

ESPN's Todd Archer explained that Miller doesn't want to wear No. 58 in Dallas because that was his number with the Broncos. He also won't wear No. 94 since it is so closely associated with DeMarcus Ware in Dallas.

That is notable since Ware himself shared an interaction he had with Miller with the latter joining the Cowboys:

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Miller's contract with the NFC East team is for one year and up to $7.5 million. He will look to bolster the pass rush that was missing Micah Parsons last season after the Penn State product was traded to the Green Bay Packers.

It remains to be seen what number he will wear while doing so, but he's doing what he can to make sure it is No. 40.
