Can the Home Team Win the Tournament?

3 of 3

East Side Little League cashed its ticket to the tournament Friday with a win over Delaware in the Mid-Atlantic regional tournament, behind pitcher Cole Warner's eight strikeouts.

It is the first time in seven decades that a team from West Chester will compete for the most coveted prize in Little League Baseball, with a chance to do so in its home state.

It will not be easy.

The wealth of talent from across the globe makes it incredibly difficult for a home-state squad to hoist the trophy at the end of the tournament. Look no further than the fact that Pennsylvania has not had a representative win the whole thing since Levittown American Little League did so in 1960.

With stacked teams in the lineup, including the West Region representative from California and the Japanese and South Korean teams internationally, it will take the best baseball the West Chester squad has played to date for them to emerge victorious.
