Dodgers' Justin Wrobleski Injury Update, Latest on All-Star Pitcher's Forearm Amid MLB Playoff Race

The Los Angeles Dodgers will be without another one of their starting pitchers in the immediate future.

Los Angeles announced Sunday it placed left-handed pitcher and 2026 All-Star Justin Wrobleski on the injured list due to forearm inflammation and recalled pitcher Kyle Hurt in a corresponding move.

While few teams are going to feel sorry for the Dodgers when it comes to starting-pitching depth, they are also missing Tyler Glasnow from the rotation. What's more, Shohei Ohtani hasn't pitched since July 3 and is just playing designated hitter.

Blake Snell also made his first start since May 9 on Tuesday, underscoring how important Wrobleski has been this season when it comes to covering for some of the other absences. After all, the Dodgers didn't have Tarik Skubal either until August seeing how he was on the Detroit Tigers.

Wrobleski made his first All-Star Game this season and has a 3.56 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 100 strikeouts in 126.1 innings. His career-high for innings pitched in a season coming into the 2026 campaign was 66.2, as he was primarily used out of the bullpen.

The drastic increase in usage stands out, especially as he heads to the injured list, but he has also been far more effective.

The southpaw finished last season with a 4.32 ERA.

Fortunately for the Dodgers, Glasnow is on a rehab assignment and likely isn't too far removed from returning to the rotation. A rotation that features Skubal, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Snell and Glasnow is a dominant one, even if Wrobleski is sidelined for significant time.

The expectation is still World Series in Los Angeles, but depth is at least something of a concern when it comes to the starting rotation for the two-time reigning champions.
