The Sun made it to the semifinals for six straight years between 2019 and 2024, a span that included two trips to the WNBA Finals but no title wins.

Connecticut was hoping to shake things up after another semifinal loss in 2024 by hiring head coach Rachid Meziane to replace Stephanie White.

The Sun have now fallen short of the playoffs in two seasons under Meziane, going 11-33 last season before parting ways with 10 players from the 2025 campaign.

After losing Brittney Griner to a knee injury down the stretch, the Sun are at risk of finishing with a lower wins total in the franchise's last season before relocating to Houston.

The franchise will hope to turn things around under new ownership before tipping off the 2027 season in Texas.
