Ceyair Wright Reportedly Leaves Bengals for Lead Role in Movie, Played LeBron's Son in 'Space Jam 2'

Cincinnati Bengals backup cornerback Ceyair Wright reportedly left the team for a lead role in an upcoming movie.

According to KPRC-2 Houston's Aaron Wilson, Wright was offered a "lead role in a big movie that he couldn't pass up" before departing Cincinnati. Once filming ends in October, he'll look to return to the NFL.

Wright already has acting experience, playing LeBron James' son in the 2021 movie Space Jam: A New Legacy.

He also appeared in 15 episodes of the television series Grown-ish from 2022-23.

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor detailed the situation on Saturday.

"I don't know how to properly define it for him," Taylor said, via SI.com's Zach Pressnell. "He called us last night and let us know that he had an opportunity. I know it was a difficult decision for him. I think two things he's really passionate about were colliding, and he decided to pursue this opportunity. He's a great kid, comes from a great university, and we wish him the best. He was fun to be around. He really competed hard for us. It was fun watching him play. I thought he was ascending as a player, but obviously he's chosen to go a different path."

Cincinnati placed Wright on the exempt/left squad list, meaning that he will not count against the 90-man roster. The Bengals still hold his rights if he chooses to return.

Wright was preparing for his rookie year prior to the move, signing with Cincinnati as an undrafted free agent in May after spending the 2025 season at Nebraska.

In 13 games, he racked up 29 tackles and five passes defended to go along with one tackle for loss.

While Wright's upcoming role is unknown, he's putting his NFL career on hold to continue his acting journey.
