Ty Simpson Reacts to Impressive Preseason Debut with Rams After Throwing 2 TDs vs. Chiefs

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Ty Simpson says he wants to keep improving after a historic NFL debut in Saturday's preseason win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

"I've got a lot to learn, a lot of learning ops in that game right there, and hopefully I'm going to keep growing," Simpson told Sports Central LA's Darren M. Haynes after the game.

"I'm not looking for perfection, I'm looking for progress."

Simpson completed 21 of 25 passes Saturday while becoming the first player since Baker Mayfield to record 190 passing yards and two touchdown in their preseason debut, per ESPN Insights.

He took no sacks and committed no turnovers after relieving Stetson Bennett IV at the start of Saturday's second quarter.

Simpson is competing with Bennett to back up reigning MVP Matthew Stafford this season.

Bennett went 4-for-6 with 38 receiving yards in the first quarter before Simpson took over Saturday's preseason matchup.

Coach Sean McVay could get another chance to evaluate his quarterback depth behind Stafford when the Rams continue preseason action next Saturday against the visiting New Orleans Saints.
