Giants' Odell Beckham Jr. Says 'The Tape Never Lies' After 1st Preseason Game vs. Vikings

New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. indicated he feels game tape from Saturday's preseason action against the Minnesota Vikings will help him make his case for a spot on the Giants' roster.

Beckham finished out the game with two catches for six yards while making himself open on several other plays where the ball didn't come his way.

"The tape will never lie, and all of those things. The right people will see it," Beckham said Saturday (h/t ESPN's Jordan Raanan).

One potential missed opportunity to target Beckham took place in Saturday's fourth quarter.

Beckham outran coverage from Vikings cornerback Dwight McGlothern Jr. to get open only to watch Brandon Allen throw an interception while attempting to target Ryan Miller on the other side of the field.

"It's a blessing to be out there, it's a blessing to be healthy, but I felt for a second it was about time to get back in that zone," Beckham said (h/t SNY Giants).

Coach John Harbaugh said after his team's 13-10 preseason loss to the Vikings he thought Beckham "looked solid" in his return to the Giants.

"Looked pretty good. Made a couple catches, did some things. Some things he could have done better," Harbaugh said.

Harbaugh continued, saying: "What he's doing, what he's fighting for, I don't know how it's going to turn out. It's going to turn out the way it turns out based on what happens."

Harbaugh's comments come after Giants general manager Joe Schoen praised Beckham ahead of training camp as a player who "can still get open."

"I'm glad they see it, but I've been doing it," Beckham said when asked Saturday about Schoen's comments. "It feels good just to be back out there."

After beginning his NFL career with three Pro Bowl seasons with the Giants, Beckham is back in New York in the hope of seeing his first NFL action since his 2024 campaign with the Miami Dolphins.

He is currently competing with players including Braxton Berrios, Dalen Cambre, Isaiah Hodgins, Jalin Hyatt and JuJu Smith-Schuster for what is expected to be one or two remaining wide receiver spots, per SNY's Connor Hughes.

The Giants have two weeks left to decide which of those players will make the cut before the 53-man roster deadline hits Aug. 30.
