Novak Djokovic Upset by Thiago Agustin Tirante at Cincinnati Open in 1st Match Since Wimbledon

Novak Djokovic suffered a 6-2, 4-6, 4-6 loss to Thiago Agustin Tirante at the Cincinnati Open on Saturday.

It marked Djokovic's first match since falling to Jannik Sinner in the men's semifinal at Wimbledon.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion fought admirably on Saturday and saved 13 of 15 break points, according to via Andy West of ATPTour.com, but ultimately struggled over the final two sets.

As for Tirante, he amassed 13 aces and saved four of six break points.

"I think this is the best win of my career," Tirante said, per West. "I think I really did a good job inside the court. I managed very well the nerves of playing against a legend like Novak. Now I feel relieved, because it is all so much pressure when you cannot break [serve]. I had so many points to break and I couldn't, so that was the key, to keep believing in myself with my team and think about it after the match."

Djokovic won four games in a row to take the first set and was still serving at 4-4 in the third set, although he couldn't secure a victory.

The 39-year-old revealed that he struggled with the humidity during the match following the defeat.

"It's just the condition that I have health-wise," Djokovic said, via The Guardian. "It's been bothering me for the last couple of years. And a lot of issues, especially when it's humid and hot. Yeah."

Tirante will now face Martin Landaluce in the third round in Cincinnati.
