Shedeur Sanders, Deshaun Watson's Final Box Score Stats and Highlights from Browns vs. Bears

Cleveland Browns quarterbacks Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson both made their cases Saturday as coach Todd Monken waits to name a starter for the NFL regular season.

Watson played the first half of Saturday's preseason clash against the Chicago Bears, with Sanders taking over after halftime.

Based on the order in which they got onto the field, Watson appears to have an edge for now. If that's the case, then Sanders might be falling further behind because his final numbers were lagging behind those of his fellow signal-caller.

The Bears forced a fumble midway through the second quarter when defensive end Jamree Kromah got to Watson on a 4th-and-2.

Otherwise, it was a solid day for the three-time Pro Bowler. His output was, however, skewed by a screen pass to running back Dylan Sampson that turned into a big gain.

For somebody playing in his first game of any kind since October 2024, Watson looked as good as fans could've realistically hoped.

Sanders' biggest highlight came on a 35-yard pass to Luke Floriea in the third quarter.

His day ended after a bad overthrow resulted in an interception in the fourth quarter.

In general, neither Watson nor Sanders stood out in a big way.

The Browns are back in action in a week against the Buffalo Bills.

Maybe Monken will have made up his mind between now and then. You'd expect the battle to continue into the Bills game, though. Assuming that's the case, Sanders would benefit from more reps to show how much he has progressed from his rookie year.
