KC Concepcion, Denzel Boston Stir Early Hype as NFL Fans React to Browns' Preseason Opener

While most fans are paying attention to the quarterback battle between Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders, Cleveland Browns rookie wide receivers KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston made an impression in Saturday's preseason game against the Chicago Bears.

Concepcion notched the team's first touchdown on a 14-yard end-around early into the second quarter.

Preceding that, the first-round pick had a nice 31-yard punt return in the first quarter:

Boston, meanwhile, got his preseason started with a 15-yard grab in the opening frame.

The absence of a true franchise quarterback has been the Browns' defining characteristic since they returned to the NFL in 1999. So many of their larger struggles have stemmed from that problem.

Because of that, it's easy to forget Cleveland has gone more than a decade without having a truly elite wide receiver. In addition, Josh Gordon only had two full seasons under his belt before his pro career got derailed.

Even if Sanders or Watson doesn't assert himself as the long-term option under center, the Browns could have the foundation of their passing game with Concepcion and Boston.
