A fellow former New Japan Pro-Wrestling star is reportedly set to join Shinsuke Nakamura in his rivalry with new WWE tag team champions The MFTs.

According to Cory Hays of False Finish, Hiromu Takahashi is planned to be Nakamura's tag team partner on SmackDown moving forward.

Nakamura has recently teased in promos that he is bringing someone in to even the odds against Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga, and he dropped some major hints on Friday.

In a promo posted on WWE's social media accounts, Nakamura referred to his mystery partner as a "ticking time bomb."

Takahashi has long been known as "The Ticking Time Bomb," and one of his finishing moves is called The Time Bomb as well.

On top of that, the silhouette in the background of Nakamura's promo very closely resembled Takahashi.

It has long been rumored that Takahashi would be coming to WWE, but it was unclear if he would go straight to the main roster or if he would start in NXT, much like Naraku, who was formerly known as Evil in NJPW.

The 36-year-old Takahashi had a hugely successful run in New Japan, winning the Best of the Super Juniors tournament four times and holding the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship on five occasions.

He will join a multi-time IWGP heavyweight and intercontinental champion in Nakamura, who has also achieved a great deal in WWE, including winning a Royal Rumble and being a multi-time intercontinental and United States champion.

The MFTs beat the teams of Damian Priest and R-Truth, as well as The War Raiders in a Triple Threat tag team match to become WWE tag team champions on Friday night, but with Nakamura and Takahashi hot on their trail, there won't be much time to celebrate.
