Titans' Nazeeh Johnson Says PED Suspension Linked to Fertility Medication

In the wake of being suspended six games by the NFL for violating the policy on performance-enhancing drugs, Tennessee Titans defensive back Nazeeh Johnson explained his positive test was linked to a fertility medication he was taking.

Johnson wrote in a post on X he began taking the medication that contained a substance after discovering he "was infertile" while he and his wife have been attempting to conceive a child:

"My wife and I were trying to conceive a child. We found out that I was infertile, and I took a fertility medication that was helping me try to conceive a baby. I was not aware that there was a substance in the medication that was on the banned list, and I tested positive for a PED. Lesson to all NFL players and new players coming into the league: do not put anything in your body without following the process and getting approval beforehand. We lost our baby a few weeks ago, and this has been an incredibly difficult time for my wife and me. Fortunately, we have nine good eggs left, so we're holding on to hope that we'll be able to grow our family."

The Titans announced on Friday that Johnson received a six-game suspension from the NFL. His suspension takes effect on Aug. 30, making him eligible to participate in all practices and preseason games until then.

Johnson will be eligible for reinstatement on Oct. 19, one day after the Titans' Week 6 game against the Indianapolis Colts.

The Titans signed Johnson as a free agent in July. He was a seventh-round pick by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2022 NFL draft and appeared in 29 games over four seasons with the club.
