FedEx St. Jude Championship Leaderboard 2026, Top Scorecards, Player Stats on Day 2

Scottie Scheffler skyrocketed to the top of the FedEx St. Jude Championship leaderboard on Friday.

The FedEx Cup standings leader recorded his fourth-career round of 61 or better on the PGA Tour.

The nine-under 61 handed Scheffler a three-shot lead over Sungjae Im and Viktor Hovland after 36 holes.

Hovland and Scheffler were two of 13 golfers to shoot four-under or better on Friday.

Rory McIlroy wasn't as successful as the leaders, but he did have a better round on Friday.

McIlroy shot an even-par 70 to remain at four-over for the tournament going into the weekend.

Scottie Scheffler Takes Lead After Second-Round 61

Scottie Scheffler played at a blistering pace on Friday.

The 36-hole leader began his round with five consecutive birdies. He finished the day with 11 birdies, two bogeys and five pars.

Friday's round marked the fourth time Scheffler carded a 61 or better on the PGA Tour. It was also the second time he went this low at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

The nine-under round opened up a three-stroke advantage on his closest competition. It's easy to see Scheffler carrying the momentum into the weekend and running away with the tournament.

A red-hot weekend in Memphis would just double down on the thought that Scheffler is the favorite to win the Tour Championship and the FedEx Cup in two weeks, which is the goal he's working toward.

Viktor Hovland, Ludvig Aberg Among Low Scorers

Friday's top storyline at TPC Southwind was Scheffler, but there were plenty of other low scorers on the course.

Viktor Hovland and Ludvig Aberg were among the most notable names in the group of 12 other golfers that shot four-under or better.

Hovland used a six-under 64 to boost himself into a tie for second place alongside Sungjae Im.

Hovland rolled in six birdies during his bogey-free round, including three over the final five holes.

Aberg boosted himself into sole possession of fourth place with a five-under 65.

Like Scheffler, Aberg got off to a fast start with four birdies in the first five holes.

Aberg finished his round with three birdies in the final four holes. His round would've been comparable to Scheffler's if he didn't card a double bogey on the par-three 11th.

It's going to be hard to challenge Scheffler if he plays anywhere close to his Friday level, but Hovland and Aberg are among his biggest challengers if he struggles a bit.

Rory McIlroy Remains at Four-Over

Rory McIlroy improved his round score by four shots on Friday, but it wasn't enough to gain traction on the leaderboard.

McIlroy's even-par 70 kept him at four-over for the tournament. He is 15 shots off Scheffler, who he played with during the first two rounds.

The good news for McIlroy is that he played a more steady round, but it still could've been better. He bogeyed the final two holes of the round.

McIlroy played the 16th, 17th and 18th holes at six-over through two rounds. That's simply not good enough to meet anyone's standards.

Since there is no cut at the event, McIlroy has two rounds left to improve and create momentum going into the BMW Championship.

Two rounds in the 60s would be ideal to earn some more FedEx Cup points and get on the right track with the Tour Championship on the horizon in two weeks.
