DeMarcus Lawrence Updates NFL Retirement Timeline After Winning Super Bowl With Seahawks

Seattle Seahawks defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence revealed to Jori Epstein of Yahoo Sports that the 2026 season will be his last NFL campaign.

Lawrence, a five-time Pro Bowler, played his first 11 seasons with the Dallas Cowboys before signing a three-year, $32.5 million contract with Seattle last offseason.

Over 16 starts, the former Boise State star amassed six sacks, 53 tackles, 20 quarterback hits and two fumble recovery touchdowns for the Super Bowl LX champions.

Lawrence has enjoyed a fantastic career. He's totaled 67.5 sacks over time, including a career-high 14.5 in 2017. Lawrence also has 503 tackles (309 solo) and 146 quarterback hits.

Off the field, Lawrence has also done tremendous charity work. He got recognized for his efforts in 2023, when the Dallas Cowboys named him their nominee for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award.

"Lawrence's contributions have included financial contributions to the homeless both in Dallas-Fort Worth and beyond as well as showing support for the North Texas Food Bank and other non-profit causes, but his favorite community effort is the impact he's been able to make on the local youth," DallasCowboys.com Staff Writer Nick Harris wrote at the time.

Lawrence now enters his final NFL season as he hopes to guide the Seahawks to back-to-back Super Bowl wins. He's in line to start again as Seattle begins the season on Wednesday, Sept. 9 in a Super Bowl rematch against the New England Patriots.
