Red Sox vs. Royals Set for 2027 MLB Field of Dreams Game, Scheduled Date Announced

One day after MLB returned to Iowa for the first Field of Dreams game in four years, a return trip is planned for 2027.

MLB announced on Friday that the Boston Red Sox and Kansas City Royals will play at the iconic venue on Aug. 12, 2027.

MLB added the Field of Dreams game to the schedule starting in 2021 with the Chicago White Sox defeating the New York Yankees in a thriller that ended with a Tim Anderson walk-off homer.

After the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds played the game in 2022, it went on hiatus in part because the field in Dyersville was undergoing renovations and expansions.

The league found another way to operate in singular venues in the interim. There was a game at Rickwood Field, former home of the Birmingham Black Barons in the Negro Leagues, between the St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants in 2024.

MLB brought back the Field of Dreams game this season with the Philadelphia Phillies and Minnesota Twins playing on Thursday. The Phillies won 7-1 thanks to two home runs by Kyle Schwarber.

The Red Sox and Royals will become the fourth unique matchup in the Field of Dreams game when it is played.
