Ty Gibbs to Honor Kyle Busch, Drive in Iconic M&M's Car at Bristol After NASCAR Legend's Death

Late NASCAR legend Kyle Busch will be honored during the Bass Pro Shops Night Race on Saturday, Sept. 19 at Bristol Motor Speedway, where Ty Gibbs' No. 54 car will be adorned with Busch's iconic M&M paint scheme.

Samantha Busch, the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion's wife of 15-plus years, announced the news on Instagram and X.

Busch had great success at Bristol, winning eight of his 39 NASCAR Cup Series races there. He also finished second four times. Overall he won 22 times over NASCAR's three series and even swept a tripleheader there on two occasions (2010, 2017).

"Bristol wasn't just another race to him. He loved everything about that place," Samantha Busch said in the Instagram video (h/t NASCAR.com). "The intensity, the energy, the fans and the challenge of racing there. Some of the greatest moments of his career happened on that track in the yellow M&M's car, which became such an iconic part of Kyle's legacy.

"It was so much more than a paint scheme. Kyle became the M&M's guy."

Busch died at the age of 41 on May 21 after the severe pneumonia he was suffering from progressed into sepsis.

He and Samantha have two children, including his 11-year-old son Brexton, who is following his father's footsteps as a driver and enjoying great success, including becoming the 2025 Golden Driller champion (junior sprints).

Kyle Busch's 234 victories over NASCAR's top three national series are the most in history. He won 63 NASCAR Cup Series races and earned the Cup Series Championship twice (2015 and 2019).
