NFL Scouts Think This 2027 QB Could Be 'Best of the Bunch' Over Arch Manning, Dante Moore

While Arch Manning and Dante Moore have dominated many of the early quarterback headlines leading up to the 2027 NFL draft, another signal-caller could be poised to steal the show during the 2026 college football season.

"I've heard a buzz from teams who think he could end up being the best of the bunch," NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah reported Thursday during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show when discussing Miami's Darian Mensah.

"There's a lot of scouts who love that dude."

Being "the best of the bunch" in the 2027 class would be quite an accomplishment.

After all, B/R's Brent Sobleski projected six quarterbacks in the top 11 picks in his June mock draft with Manning going No. 1 overall followed by Mensah (No. 3), Moore (No. 4), Drew Mestemaker (No. 7), CJ Carr (No. 8) and LaNorris Sellers (No. 11).

Julian Sayin wasn't even included, and he has been projected elsewhere as a potential top-five pick.

While Sobleski had Manning at No. 1, he pointed out Mensah was actually the top-ranked 2027 quarterback from B/R's Scouting Department.

"Mensah is an excellent distributor to all three levels, with the accuracy and ball placement to layer throws," he wrote. "He should benefit greatly from his transfer to Miami, where his supporting cast will be vastly improved."

That echoes some of Jeremiah's comments about the quarterback who will be playing under a much brighter spotlight in 2026.

Mensah started his collegiate career with Tulane, transferred to Duke for the 2025 season and then transferred to Miami for the 2026 campaign. The Hurricanes reached the College Football Playoff national title game last season and will once again have high expectations.

If Mensah truly is the best draft prospect from all the quarterbacks, it would be anything but a surprise if Miami was once again battling for college football's most coveted trophy.
