New Brian Thomas Jr. Trade Rumors Reveal Jaguars Turned Down 'Significant' Offers for WR

The Jacksonville Jaguars reportedly turned down trade offers from multiple teams for wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. dating back to last season.

According to Jeff Howe of The Athletic, the Jags did not look to move Thomas despite his struggles last season, and they even declined two "significant" offers prior to the 2025 NFL trade deadline.

Thomas was everything the Jaguars could have hoped for and more during his rookie season in 2024, as he finished with 87 receptions for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns after the Jags selected him 23rd overall in the 2024 NFL draft out of LSU.

Expectations were massive for BTJ in 2025 coming off a Pro Bowl campaign as a rookie, but he didn't come anywhere close to meeting them.

In addition to missing three games due to ankle and shoulder injuries, Thomas was far less effective when he played compared to 2024, recording just 48 catches for 707 yards and two touchdowns.

As a result, Thomas fell behind Parker Washington in the Jags' wide receiver pecking order, and he fell behind Jakobi Meyers as well after Jacksonville acquired him in a midseason trade with the Las Vegas Raiders.

It can be argued that Thomas is lined up to be the Jaguars' WR3 in 2026 behind Washington and Meyers, which could explain why his name came up often in trade rumors and speculation leading up to the 2026 NFL draft.

Jacksonville decided to keep him, though, ensuring that it will continue to have a deep and talented receiving corps this coming season.

Although Thomas' first season under head coach and offensive guru Liam Coen didn't go the way he would have liked, he undoubtedly has the talent to turn things around in Coen's system, and the Jags are banking on him doing precisely that.
