
Dodgers' Freddie Freeman Gives Injury Update, Reacts to Scary Fall Into Visitors' Dugout
Los Angeles Dodgers fans breathed a sigh of relief following star first baseman Fredde Freeman's scary fall into the dugout during Wednesday night's 4-2 home win against the Kansas City Royals.
During the top of the eighth inning, Freeman attempted to catch a pop-up in foul territory, but he fell down the stairs of the visitors' dugout:

Freeman stayed in the game for the remainder of the half-inning, but manager Dave Roberts pinch hit for him in the bottom of the frame.
After the game, Freeman acknowledged that he was sore, but suggested that he avoided any serious injuries, telling reporters, "I didn't hit my head, so that was the key part there. I am sore. Kneecaps are sore. Shoulder is sore. Hand sore. Wrist sore. I mean, I fell. [But] I'm in good spirits."
Freeman also explained what happened on the harrowing play, saying, "I went to lean, like I was going to lean against the rail to catch the ball—and obviously there was no rail."
Per Greg Beacham of the Associated Press, Freeman isn't yet sure if he will play on Thursday when the Dodgers start a four-game home set with the Milwaukee Brewers.
Even at nearly 37 years of age, Freeman continues to be among the best first basemen in Major League Baseball.
The 10-time All-Star, one-time National League MVP and one-time World Series MVP is slashing .306/.380/.472 with 15 home runs, 57 RBI and 58 runs scored in 118 games played this season.
If Freeman is forced to miss a game or two due to injury following his fall, Kiké Hernández figures to fill in after replacing Freeman defensively in the ninth inning on Wednesday.
