Explaining FedEx Cup Points 2026 Distribution and Standings

The top 70 golfers in the FedEx Cup standings embark on a three-week sprint, which begins on Thursday, to claim the end-of-season prize on the PGA Tour.

Scottie Scheffler sits atop the FedEx Cup standings going into the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

Scheffler's position at the top is safe for now, but over the next two weeks, the focus will be on the bottom half of the standings.

Seventy competitors in Memphis will be dwindled down to 30 golfers for the Tour Championship in Atlanta in two weeks.

The top 70 golfers in the FedEx Cup standings will participate in the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

The top 50 in the standings after Memphis will head to the BMW Championship in St. Louis. The top 30 after the BMW head to East Lake Golf Club for the annual Tour Championship.

At the Tour Championship, $10 million is up for grabs for the winner. The victor will be determined by the lowest stroke total over 72 holes.

The first two events of the FedEx Cup have 750 points attached to them for the winner.

The points pay out is similar to the four majors and the Players Championship. Second place earns 500 points, third place takes 350, fourth place gets 325 and fifth place obtains 300.

Scheffler likely won't be affected at the top because he has an almost 800 point lead over Matt Fitzpatrick.

However, every point will matter on the back end of the standings. There's currently 27 points between Maverick McNealy in 50th and Harris English in 51st.

It's even closer in the hunt for the top 30, as the golfers in 31st-36th are all within 100 points of J.T. Poston in 30th place.

The goal for everyone in the FedEx Cup field is to get to the Tour Championship. Once there, the playing field is leveled and the 30 remaining golfers will play for the $10 million prize.
