Stephanie White Addresses Foul on Sophie Cunningham by DiJonai Carrington After Seeing Replay
On Saturday, the Chicago Sky's DiJonai Carrington was ejected following a hard foul on Sophie Cunningham.
After the game, Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White defended Carrington going for the hard foul, telling reporters she didn't "think that DiJonai intentionally came out to get her across the neck like she did. But it did happen and I thought it was the right call."
But on Tuesday she noted she hadn't seen replay of the foul before that press conference and that it was indeed "egregious." She also responded to the reaction to her initial response:
As for the backlash aimed at White, Fever president Kelly Krauskopf said the head coach has "done a tremendous job leading the Fever and for the second-consecutive season, has us in great position for a playoff push. She has kept our team focused and united, all while under the brightest spotlight our team and our league have ever experienced. She has the full support of leadership."
