New Christian McCaffrey Injury Update Given By Kyle Shanahan Amid RB's Absence From 49ers Practice

The San Francisco 49ers, already beset by injuries in training camp, don't seem too concerned that superstar running back Christian McCaffrey missing the past two practices with what has been described as "tightness."

"No," head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters when asked if the absences were worrying. "My concern would be him toughing through tightness, like a lot of people do, and then hurting something bad, and then pulling something, which then, it could be a month. That would be our concern, so once we hear him talking a certain way, Christian's a guy who needs to get prepared for Week 1. But also, we're pretty confident in what he's done before, we're confident in what he's done these two weeks, and we just want to make sure we don't make it something to be concerned about."

Offensive coordinator Klay Kubiak, meanwhile, told reporters that McCaffrey's absence from Monday's practice was down to the team "just managing" his workload.

"Christian always kind of has his rep count in any camp," he continued. "You guys are aware of the adjustments we've made to our schedule to kind of keep them from having too many off days. But in terms of his rep load, we're right on track with where we want to be. And, he's a veteran player, so you have to monitor him and get him ready for the first week."

Still, 49ers fans who watched countless stars and contributors miss time last season probably can't help but worry, especially with Nick Bosa dealing with an injury setback and Mike Evans only recently returning from a quad strain.
