Cowboys' Dak Prescott Talks 'Not Giving a F--k' About What People Think amid Super Bowl Buzz

Dak Prescott has been the leader of the Dallas Cowboys for years now but has yet to lead the franchise to the ultimate goal.

Heading into the 2026 campaign, Prescott made it clear that his goal is a Super Bowl.

"Why are we hesitant to say that that's what we're playing for?" Prescott said, per Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer. "I don't know if it's just getting older, having kids and blatantly not giving a f--k what other people think, but if that's what this is about, then why is anybody being hesitant about it? And why is it, honestly, such a big deal even saying it? So my point is, let's put it out there. Like, I'm a big manifester. I wouldn't be here in my life if I didn't think I would be here, going back to being a little kid.

"I mean, people ask me all the time. A lot of times they ask this question, [and] they expect a 'No, not at all'—Did you ever expect your life to be like this? And I go, Damn near to the smallest detail. Like, I've had cars that I've only got because I said I'd have them when I was 7 years old. So to say I was going to be a Super Bowl champion and play like this, that's also something I said. So why don't I own that as much as I own other things?"

Whether it's manifestation, confidence or both, Prescott hasn't danced around discussing a Super Bowl during training camp. He told Yahoo Sports' Jori Epstein this week that winning a championship feels "urgent."

"This is as urgent as I've ever felt Jerry," Prescott said. "Sure, there's times he's said it, and then we've looked up and he hadn't done much in free agency. Or this, this and that. But starting from free agency, they started doing things they hadn't done. And it's kudos to [head coach Brian Schottenheimer] and [vice president of player personnel] Will [McClay] and the whole team, but it's also Jerry making that decision of being aggressive and trying to go out and get what he wants.

"It definitely feels different."

He also arrived at training camp wearing a Super Bowl XXX shirt. That was the last time Dallas made the Super Bowl.

Even though the Cowboys have missed the playoffs in back-to-back seasons, it's hard to argue they aren't capable of winning it all this year.

It starts with Prescott, who played at an MVP level last season. He also has arguably the best wide receiver duo in the league in CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens.

The question is whether the defense can do its part.

Dallas' defense was among the worst in the league last year, allowing the third-most yards per game (377) and the most points per game (30.1).

The Cowboys have done well in upgrading that unit, and it will bring in eight new starters from last year's roster. Dallas also used the No. 11 overall pick to take Ohio State standout Caleb Downs.

Whether the defense has made major strides remains to be seen, but it has given Prescott enough confidence to openly discuss winning a Super Bowl.
