Myles Garrett Dealing with Knee Swelling, Sean McVay Provides Injury Update at Rams-Cowboys Practice

The Los Angeles Rams' newest star is dealing with an injury.

According to ESPN's Sarah Barshop, head coach Sean McVay said Tuesday that Myles Garrett is still experiencing swelling in his knee, so the team held him out of Tuesday's joint practice with the Dallas Cowboys.

McVay added that Garrett is feeling "85 percent" and there have been no setbacks.

Garrett also missed four straight practices early in training camp because of lower-body soreness, but McVay expressed that it was nothing serious.

"Nothing to worry about, so we're erring on the side of being smart with him," McVay told reporters. "Reggie [Scott, the team's senior director of sports medicine and performance] and those guys do such a great job, and he is as tough as it gets. So, we want to make sure that he feels as good as possible."

The Rams have a preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday, but it seems unlikely that Garrett will play in that one, or in any preseason game for that matter.

While Garrett missed some time during the early part of his career, he's been extremely durable in recent years, missing just two games since the start of the 2021 campaign.

The Rams hope Garrett will continue that streak of good health now that he's in Los Angeles.

The Rams made the biggest move of the offseason when they traded defensive end Jared Verse and a 2027 first-rounder, 2028 second-rounder and 2029 third-rounder to the Cleveland Browns in return for Garrett.

They're hoping he can be the missing piece that gets them back to the Super Bowl, and it's more than fair to say he has that kind of impact.

Nobody has been as good on the defensive side as Garrett over the last half-decade, including last season when he broke the single-season sack record.

The Rams had arguably the best offense in the NFL last year, but a subpar defense prevented them from winning it all. Now having added the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Los Angeles should be in good shape to make a run, so long as Garrett stays healthy.
