49ers, Titans Have 4 Fights in 10 Minutes at 1st Joint Practice Ahead of NFL Preseason Game

It didn't take long for things to get chippy between the San Francisco 49ers and Tennessee Titans on Tuesday.

The two teams had a joint practice, and there were four fights within the first 10 minutes of scrimmage, according to David Lombardi of The San Francisco Standard.

NBC Sports' Matt Maiocco noted that several scuffles broke out before the two teams had even played a snap, and Lombardi added that some of the fights broke out after Titans' ballcarriers ended up on the ground at the end of plays.

Lombardi also noted that one of the fights featured 49ers defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa and Titans offensive tackle Dan Moore Jr.

The Titans are entering their first season under head coach Robert Saleh, who was the defensive coordinator in San Francisco from 2017 to 2020 and again in 2025, but there likely isn't any bad blood there since Saleh left on his own terms both times.

Instead, it's likely just the excitement of training camp and the opportunity to face a different opponent that has the two sides fired up during the scrimmage.

At least the Niners and Titans are breaking the tension now so they can avoid any fights during Thursday's preseason matchup. That game will be the only time Tennessee and San Francisco will face off this year since they're not slated to play during the regular season.

The 49ers are coming off a solid 12-5 season that saw them reach the divisional round, but they're hoping to get back to competing for Super Bowls in 2026. The Titans, meanwhile, have had a dreadful last few seasons and are just hoping to show some growth in Saleh's first year at the helm.
