New NFL Rumors on Jalen Hurts Looking 'Quicker and Faster' Amid Eagles Training Camp

The Philadelphia Eagles will have a new-look offense this season with offensive coordinator Sean Mannion leading the way, and that may mean more runs for quarterback Jalen Hurts.

"Quarterback Jalen Hurts is looking like a viable dual threat again," ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported Tuesday. "The session I attended was a lighter day, but Hurts executed a designed run multiple times, and he looks as if he's moving well. A team source agreed, noting Hurts looks 'quicker and faster.'"

Fowler also noted Mannion told reporters the tush push is "extremely effective," so expect that play to remain in Philadelphia's arsenal as well.

Hurts posted at least 150 carries and at least 13 touchdowns runs in three straight seasons from 2022 through 2024. His legs were a primary reason the offense was so dangerous when it won the Lombardi Trophy during the 2024 campaign and reached the Super Bowl in the 2022 season.

However, he tallied just 105 carries and eight touchdowns on the ground last season. He also saw his rushing yardage drop to 421, which was his lowest mark since he was a rookie in 2020.

ESPN's Tim McManus reported Thursday that Mannion's offense features Hurts under center with plenty of play-action and motion. That stands in stark contrast to last season's offense that saw the Eagles finish 27th in under-center snaps and 29th in motion rate.

What's more, McManus noted Hurts' under-center dropback rate was 32nd among quarterbacks.

The new offense will be a drastic change for a quarterback who is used to being in the shotgun without much motion, but he seems to be picking it up in training camp.

"I like to think of the term calibrating. This is the time where we're kind of putting it together and finding out who we are," Hurts said. "I think it's been very good to be able to compete against the defense who has a built-and-set identity for who they are, and then obviously us on this end we've got a lot of new pieces, an entirely new approach and MO, philosophy to our offense. Being able to put that together and make it our own, I'm excited about where we are."

Part of that "calibrating" may involve Hurts running more often in 2026, which could be welcome news in Philadelphia considering he is reportedly "quicker and faster."
