New Dodgers Rumors Reveal Promotion for Reliever Acquired Before MLB Trade Deadline

After acquiring Seth Halvorsen from the Colorado Rockies before the trade deadline, the Los Angeles Dodgers are now giving him a promotion.

Per The Athletic's Fabian Ardaya, the Dodgers are calling up the reliever.

Halvorsen was a seventh-round pick out of Tennessee in 2023 and made his MLB debut in 2024, appearing in 12 games that season. He spent significant time at the major league level last year, appearing in 41 games and posting a 4.99 ERA and a 1.56 WHIP with 11 saves.

Halvorsen started the 2026 campaign at the Triple-A level but was called up in late April. He made 21 appearances with the Rockies this year, recording a 4.74 ERA and a 1.95 WHIP.

Before being traded to the Dodgers, Halvorsen landed on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation. Los Angeles traded right-handed pitcher Nick Frasso and outfielder Landyn Vidourek to the Rockies in return for him.

The 26-year-old Halvorsen has made six appearances for Triple-A Oklahoma City since being traded, giving up just four hits, two walks and no runs across 6.1 innings.

How much of a role Halvorsen will play remains to be seen, but he'll provide the Dodgers plenty of velocity out of the bullpen. He's notched 233 pitches at 100 mph or faster since the start of the 2025 campaign, but his control remains a work in progress.

The Dodgers have been in a slump recently but are still sitting atop the NL West at 70-48.
