Larry Fitzgerald's No. 11 Jersey Will Be Retired by Cardinals After HOF Induction, Date Revealed

The Arizona Cardinals announced Monday they're retiring Larry Fitzgerald's No. 11 jersey and will induct him into their Ring of Honor.

The organization will celebrate the newly minted Hall of Famer at halftime of its Oct. 25 matchup with the Denver Broncos.

Team owner Michael Bidwill said that "no one who has ever worn a Cardinals uniform is more deserving of this honor."

"The thing I remember most about his presence here is not just how he practiced on the practice field but the way he took his profession so seriously. He is a pro's pro," Bidwill said. "His presence, both setting the tone but also welcoming people and in the locker room being a little bit of a jokester and wanting to engage everyone around him. He contributed so much to this organization and so much to this community."

Fitzgerald, who spent his entire 17-year career in Arizona, is one of the greatest players in Cardinals history. He ranks second in the NFL all-time in catches (1,432) and receiving yards (17,492), and his 121 touchdown receptions are sixth.

Consistency was Fitzgerald's hallmark. He eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards nine different times, and he remained an effective secondary target well into his 30s.

A member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame's All-2010s team, Fitzgerald punched his ticket to Canton, Ohio, in his first year of eligibility.

The 42-year-old will be the sixth Cardinals player to have his jersey retired. Larry Wilson (No. 8), Pat Tillman (No. 40), Stan Mauldin (No. 77), J.V. Cain (No. 88) and Marshall Goldberg (No. 99) are the others.
