Odell Beckham Jr. Competing With 2 Players for Final Roster Spot, Says Giants Insider

Veteran wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. isn't a lock to make the New York Giants' roster at this point, according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan.

Raanan wrote Monday that Beckham is getting stiff competition from Braxton Berrios and Dalen Cambre: "Right now, it seems to be those three competing for one final spot."

OBJ's return to the Big Apple makes for a great story, and he has the opportunity to write a better final chapter to his NFL career than if his forgettable run on the Miami Dolphins was his last act in the league.

It sounds as though the three-time Pro Bowler is impressing the coaching staff:

The general excitement about Beckham somewhat obscures where he's at as a player.

The 33-year-old didn't play at all in 2025, and he was largely ineffective during his Miami tenure. In nine games, he caught nine passes for 55 yards. Beckham's last 1,000-yard season was in 2019, and he's a decade removed from his most recent Pro Bowl appearance.

The recent track records of Berrios and Cambre aren't any more encouraging. Berrios has caught 51 passes for 420 yards and one touchdown over the last four years, while Cambre was used exclusively on special teams after signing with New York as an undrafted free agent in 2025.

The fact that Beckham isn't a sure thing to make the final cut nonetheless speaks for itself. As notable as his profile is, he still needs to show he remains effective in an on-field role.
