Freddie Freeman Defends Tarik Skubal After Dodgers Star's Comments on Tigers, MLB Free Agency

Star first baseman Freddie Freeman understood Tarik Skubal's comments about hoping that the Detroit Tigers would make an effort to re-sign him in the offseason after trading him to the Los Angeles Dodgers, even if they weren't received well in his new city.

"You're not just gonna flip a switch and be, like, 'Oh, I'm great,'" Freeman told reporters. "... You have all these friends, all these people you came up with in the minor leagues that are now with you as teammates. You had 15-hour bus rides together. You're doing all these things together. The organization invested in you. You invested in them. You can do everything you can to win a World Series, and it doesn't happen, and then you get traded. So, you're going to have emotions."

Freeman also didn't understand any negativity being pointed Skubal's way, especially from Detroit.

"He got traded," he said. "There's nothing he could have done, unless they gave him a billion dollars and he didn't say yes to that."
