North Carolina defeated Central (Owensboro, Kentucky) 2-0 in Sunday's final to claim one of the most coveted trophies in youth sports.

Central nearly took an early lead in the top of the first, but a tremendous play in the outfield helped things stay even.
North Carolina got on the board in the bottom of the second when Belle Cox hit a line drive single to drive in Sophie Catarozzoli. North Carolina made it 2-0 in the bottom of the third when Campbell Swearengin scored on a throwing error.
After scoring a pair of runs, North Carolina pitcher Anna-Lynn Clark did a tremendous job on the mound, allowing just one hit the rest of the way. Clark finished with just three hits while striking out six batters in six innings.
The win marks the second time in the last three years that a team from North Carolina has won it all. It's the first time Johnston County Little League has won a World Series.
Central had a tremendous run to reach the World Series final, but its offense ultimately went stagnant on Sunday.
