Watch Tate Taylor Make History with 200m Record Time at U20 World Championships in Trending Video

Tate Taylor once again stole the show at the World Under-20 Championships, winning the men's 200-meter final in 19.83 seconds to set a new championship record.

Taylor also won the men's 100-meter final in 9.94 seconds and is now the first American to complete the sprint double at the U20 World Championships.

Taylor's time in the 200-meter final was just shy of Australian sprinter Gout Gout's world U20 record of 19.67 seconds, which was set this past April. Gout was forced to miss the U20 World Championships due to a hamstring injury.

Taylor dominated the rest of the field, winning the race by 0.48 seconds. Fellow American Blake Hamilton (20.31) joined him on the podium in second place, while Jayden Green of Barbados (20.55) placed third.

A San Antonio native, Taylor is set to join the Texas Tech track and field team. After his history-making run at the U20 World Championships, he will now turn his attention to the 2027 World Championships in Beijing and the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
