Bryson Stott Honors Phillies Legends with Custom Cleats in Photo for MLB Field of Dreams Game

Five days away from the Field of Dreams Game, Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Bryson Stott has unveiled the custom cleats he will be wearing.

Stott's cleats will feature Phillies legends Tug McGraw, Roy Halladay, Darren Daulton, Robin Roberts, Richie Ashburn, and Harry Kalas emerging from the cornfield like the characters in the 1989 film.

Per The Athletic's Caleb Mezzy, Stott enlisted NXT LVL Customs head artist and owner Ryan Stevens to design the cleats for the game.

Stevens told Mezzy he pitched the idea to Stott during spring training:

"Every year we go down to Clearwater (Florida) for spring training and we've been working with Bryson since 2023. He got on our podcast and I was like, 'I have this idea.' I pitched him the idea I had since the game was announced, and he said, 'I fully trust you and whatever you think is cool.'

"I came across this daytime shot of the players coming out of the cornfield and it was blurry, but what stuck out to me was the catcher — the catcher was holding his mask for some reason and I thought it resembled Darren Daulton. I searched Darren and that was the first picture that popped up, in a similar stance."

Stevens added the entire process took a week to complete once they settled on the design. Other elements on the cleats include the Field of Dreams logo, cornstalks and a sun overlooking everything.

The Phillies are playing the Minnesota Twins on Aug. 13 in Dyersville, Iowa, at a specialty ballpark located next to the site of the Field of Dreams baseball stadium.

This marks MLB's first time back in Iowa during the regular season in four years. The Field of Dreams game was previously played in 2021 and 2022. Construction in the area prevented MLB from returning in 2023.

Netflix, which is airing the Phillies-Twins matchup, also revealed Kevin Costner, who starred in the original movie, will have a role in the broadcast that is being kept under wraps.

The Chicago White Sox beat the New York Yankees, 9-8, in the first Field of Dreams game in August 2021. Tim Anderson hit a walk-off two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth.

The following year saw the Chicago Cubs defeat the Cincinnati Reds, 4-2.
