Kyle Shanahan Gives Health Update at 49ers Training Camp After Injuries Suffered in Car Crash
San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan provided a positive health update to reporters on Saturday as he continues his recovery from injuries suffered in a July 14 car accident.
Shanahan also revealed he will coach the 49ers on Thursday when they host the Tennessee Titans for their preseason home opener.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Shanahan needed over 40 stitches in his face after the accident. He also suffered a broken nose, three broken ribs, a broken hand and a severe concussion.
Shanahan took full responsibility for the accident per comments made to reporters on July 28 (h/t ESPN's Nick Wagoner).
Shanahan has been present at training camp since it started in late July, but assistant head coach Chis Foerster started the summer handling head coaching duties as he recovered.
Shanahan, 46, is entering his 10th season at the 49ers' head coach. He's led the 49ers to an 82-67 record, six playoff appearances, three NFC West titles and two NFC Championships.
