Yankees Jokingly Reinstate Mariano Rivera from '364-Day Injured List' for Old Timers' Day Game

Baseball Hall of Famer Mariano Rivera is making his return to the mound for the New York Yankees.

The Yankees joked Rivera is being reinstated "from the 364-day injured list" ahead of Saturday's alumni game.

Rivera won five World Series titles as a pitcher for the Yankees from 1995 to 2013.

His return to Yankee Stadium is taking place as part of the club's 78th Old-Timers' day.

Rivera is one of eight participating players, including Ron Guidry, Reggie Jackson, Paul O'Neill, Andy Pettitte, Jorge Posada, Bernie Williams and Hall of Fame manager Joe Torre, whose numbers have been retired by the Yankees.

The Yankees are asking fans to be seated at Yankee Stadium by 12:45 p.m. ET for traditional introduction ceremonies before the alumni game takes place Saturday afternoon.

First pitch between the Yankees and Atlanta Braves is then scheduled for 3:05 p.m. ET in the Bronx.
