Storm Eliminated From 2026 WNBA Playoff Contention, Updated Bracket Picture and Standings

The Seattle Storm are officially out of the running for the 2026 WNBA Playoffs.

The Storm were eliminated from postseason contention with the Washington Mystics' Friday night win over the Atlanta Dream, per ESPN's Alexa Philippou.

Seattle is the first team this season to be knocked out of the WNBA playoff picture.

Here's a look at the WNBA standings following the Storm's elimination. No team has yet guaranteed themselves the top-eight spot necessary to secure a playoff berth.

The Storm recorded a 10th straight loss Wednesday at the New York Liberty to fall to 6-27 on the season.

That made the Storm the first team in WNBA history to record two double-digit losing streaks in the same season. Seattle also lost 11 straight games between May 27 and June 22.

This marks the Storm's first season without a playoff bid in three years, although the team was bounced from the first round in each of its last two campaigns under former head coach Noelle Quinn.

A bright spot for the Storm this season has been Dominique Malonga, who is averaging 16.9 points and 8.7 rebounds per game in her breakout second WNBA campaign.

Other young players including Awa Fam and Flau'jae Johnson are also developing into stars in Seattle. The Storm will hope that trio, as well as what will likely be a high pick in a draft led by USC star JuJu Watkins, can help this team turn things around in 2027.

The next team at risk of elimination from the WNBA playoff picture is the Connecticut Sun, which improved to 8-23 Friday night with a win over the Phoenix Mercury.
