Cam Skattebo Injury Update Given By Giants' John Harbaugh After Collision During Practice

New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo appears fine after leaving Friday's training camp practice early and favoring his left leg following a collision with rookie linebacker Arvell Reese.

ESPN's Jordan Raanan provided detail on the initial incident. The Athletic's Dan Duggan relayed word from head coach John Harbaugh on Skattebo's status.

Skattebo suffered serious right leg injuries (dislocated ankle, fractured fibula, and ruptured deltoid ligament) during a road game at the Philadelphia Eagles last October. His season ended prematurely, but Skattebo has thankfully been able to be healthy enough to participate in training camp from the start.

The Giants selected Skattebo with the first pick of the fourth round of the 2025 NFL draft. He provided much excitement over his eight games, amassing 617 yards and seven touchdowns.

His unbridled passion and tremendous energy lit up a Giant fanbase longing for any sort of sustained success since the Tom Coughlin era.

Sadly, Skattebo's season ended in late October when he got tackled by Eagles linebacker Zack Baun on a catch attempt. Skattebo's right foot stuck in the grass and bent at an awkward angle. He was put in an air cast and carted off the field.

He's back in the mix, however, and certainly will figure as a major part of the backfield alongside Tyrone Tracy Jr., who became the Giants' RB1 down the stretch.

Thankfully, this latest ailment doesn't appear serious whatsoever.

The Giants are running training camp at The Greenbrier in White Sulfur Springs, West Virginia while their facility is under construction. However, they'll be heading back north shortly as the camp concludes Saturday, one week before the Giants open the preseason at home on Aug. 15 against the Minnesota Vikings.
