Dodgers Prospect Kendall George Posts Photo After Surgery on Injury Suffered in Bat Dog Incident

Los Angeles Dodgers prospect Kendall George underwent knee surgery two months after suffering an apparent injury while avoiding collision with a Double-A bat dog.

George posted a photo Friday on his Instagram story of himself in a hospital bed captioned, "New knee for the kidddd."

He added: "Bat dog: 1 KG: 0."

The California Post's Jack Harris reported Friday the surgery was a "scope procedure" and George "is expected to be 100% by start of spring training."

George suffered an apparent knee injury with the Double-A Tulsa Drillers on May 25 after attempting to dodge a bat dog while running onto the field.

ESPN's Alden Gonzalez later reported an initial MRI had revealed no ligament damage in George's knee. The Dodgers were hopeful at the time George would avoid surgery, per Gonzalez.

George was still sidelined for almost a month before making his return to minor-league baseball in late June.

The 21-year-old played 17 games before he was scratched from Tulsa's lineup shortly before a Double-A game last Saturday.

The Athletic's Fabian Ardaya reported the scratch was due to soreness. George was then placed Tuesday on the seven-day minor-league injured list.

George established himself as one of the fastest prospects in minor-league baseball by recording 100 steals in 111 High-A games last season.

He has recorded 36 stolen contests in 79 games this campaign, including 10 in his 17 games since returning from his initial knee injury.

George is ranked as the No. 11 prospect in the Dodgers' organization by MLB Pipeline. He has spent most of this season in Tulsa, where he's slashed .332/.418/.399 with 20 RBI and 31 walks in 55 games.
