Maxx Crosby, Kirk Cousins Have Shouting Match at Raiders Training Camp Practice, HC Kubiak Responds

Las Vegas Raiders star pass-rusher Maxx Crosby and quarterback Kirk Cousins were involved in a verbal altercation during training camp on Friday.

According to Sam Warren of The Athletic, the shouting match occurred after a pass attempt from Cousins was tipped by Crosby before the veteran signal-caller got in his face afterwards.

"That's training camp," head coach Klint Kubiak told reporters. "Those are two leaders of our team going at it. That is part of camp. Obviously, you fight in a game, you throw a punch in a game and you're out of the game. So, we've got to be smart. Treat it like a game."

Raiders tight end Michael Mayer also weighed in on the situation.

"We don't want to be throwing punches, but I think on any padded day of camp, there's going to be some tussles," Mayer said, per Mark Anderson of the Associated Press. "That's our starting quarterback right now, and you want him to defend your team and you want him to have some edge to him, which he does. He's always had since the first day I met him when he came in here.

"I don't want him getting thrown out. I don't want him getting a flag. Nothing like that, but you've got to be able to defend yourself."

While Las Vegas selected quarterback Fernando Mendoza with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft, Cousins currently sits atop the team's depth chart.

The 37-year-old appeared in 10 games with the Atlanta Falcons last season before signing with the Raiders in April. Cousins completed 61.7 percent of his throws for 1,721 yards and 10 touchdowns compared to five interceptions during his 2025 campaign.

As for Crosby, he's entering his eighth season with the Raiders. Las Vegas previously agreed to trade him to the Baltimore Ravens in March, but the swap was called off after he failed a physical.

Crosby remained one of the league's most imposing pass-rushers in 2025, racking up 73 tackles, 28 tackles for loss, 20 quarterback hits, 10 sacks and six passes defended.
