Brazilian midfielder Gerson hasn't wasted any time causing outrage at new club Roma, after he was pictured posing with a No. 10. shirt emblazoned with his name. That number, of course, belongs to "Il Capitano," Francesco Totti.

Roma fans reacted furiously on social media, saying that "number 10 is for 'Il Capitano' and nobody else," via Sport.

However, Roma chief Walter Sabatini has leapt to Gerson's defence, taking responsibility for the shirt: "I did it to encourage him, Gerson has nothing to do with it. With this shirt I wanted to proudly show what Roma offers to the footballing world and that (Gerson) didn't choose us as a matter of money, but for other reasons. One of those reasons has been Totti."
