New Stefon Diggs Rumors Reveal Chiefs Were Among Interested Teams Before WR's Commanders Contract

The Kansas City Chiefs, Miami Dolphins and Las Vegas Raiders all connected with former free agent wide receiver Stefon Diggs before he eventually agreed to terms with the Washington Commanders, per ESPN's Adam Schefter on the latest edition of the Pat McAfee Show.

Per ESPN's John Keim and Seth Walder, Diggs signed a one-year deal worth up to $12 million in incentives.

Diggs has played 11 NFL seasons for the Minnesota Vikings, Buffalo Bills, Houston Texans and New England Patriots. He's a four-time Pro Bowler who has amassed five 100-reception seasons and six 1,000-yard campaigns.

Last year, Diggs, who turns 33 on Nov. 29, led the AFC champion Patriots with 85 receptions and 1,013 yards. He also added four touchdowns.

The Pats parted ways with Diggs last March in a salary cap-related move.

Interest around the league certainly makes sense given Diggs' production. It was an impressive campaign considering the comeback Diggs needed to make just to return to the field after he suffered a season-ending torn ACL in Oct. 2024, when he was a member of the Houston Texans. Diggs ended up playing all 21 games (including playoffs) for the Pats last year,

Diggs' signing with the Commanders represents a return to Maryland, where he was born and raised. He'll also slide into the WR2 role opposite Terry McLaurin after former Commanders wideout (now San Francisco 49ers wide receiver) Deebo Samuel left the team in free agency.
