Although he never hit a quarterback the way then-New York Jets linebacker IK Enemkpali punched Geno Smith, former Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs has had the urge to deck some of the quarterbacks on his team.
However, he never acted on those urges out of respect.
Briggs talked about the Enemkpali-Smith incident as a guest analyst on NFL Network on Tuesday night.
During the segment, the 34-year-old free agent revealed that there were moments during his 12-year career with the Bears in which he wanted to punch his team's quarterback, including Jay Cutler.
As a defensive player, the lack of productivity on offense would get to Briggs. No matter how much he wanted to, though, he never hit a quarterback because he didn't want to be disrespectful.
Briggs said all of this with a smile on his face, but he managed to keep it real at the same time.
