Zay Flowers Eyes Lamar Jackson Contract Extension After New Ravens Deal, QB Is 'Best in the World'

After recently signing a contract extension with the Baltimore Ravens, wide receiver Zay Flowers wants teammate Lamar Jackson to receive a new deal as well.

"I'd love for him to be my quarterback to I'm done playing," Flowers said Wednesday, per ESPN's Jamison Hensley. "No matter whether 12 years, 13. It don't matter how long. I want him to be my quarterback because, to me, he's the best in the world."

On Wednesday, Flowers agreed to a four-year extension worth $140 million with the Ravens. The deal included $108 million guaranteed, keeping him under contract through 2031.

As for Jackson, he has two seasons remaining on a five-year, $260 million contract that he signed in April 2023.

Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta previously discussed a potential extension for the signal-caller when speaking to reporters at the 2026 NFL scouting combine.

"Lamar and I have an agreement [that] we handle business kind of in-house internally," DeCosta said at the time. "That worked well for us the last time and we will continue to have that policy moving forward. I have spoken to Lamar about a lot of different things over the last month. He's been very engaged. ... We'll continue those conversations moving forward."

An agreement has yet to be reached with Week 1 drawing closer, though.

Jackson was asked about a possible extension earlier in training camp, but declined to comment on negotiations.

"I'm gonna keep it the same way I've been keeping it. You know, not here," Jackson said, via Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. "You know, it's private between me and the G.M."

While the two-time MVP is coming off a 2025 campaign in which he missed four games due to due to back and hamstring injuries, he's remained one of the NFL's top quarterbacks when healthy.

Jackson completed 63.6 percent of his passes for 2,549 yards and 21 touchdowns while getting picked off seven times last season. He also rushed for 349 yards and two scores, averaging 5.2 yards per attempt.

Flowers was Jackson's top target in 2025, hauling in a career-high 86 receptions for 1,211 yards and amassing six total touchdowns.
