Fantasy Football 2026 Early Preseason Rankings Before Hall of Fame Game

Football is back.

The scores and stats may not matter yet, but the path from Thursday's Hall of Fame Game to the actual season opener will pass quicker than you think.

Fantasy football managers only have so much time, then, to build their predraft strategies and put them into practice. This should help speed up the process, as we're laying out overall and positional rankings, then spotlighting a few sleepers who didn't quite make the cut.

Sleepers

Quarterback: Brock Purdy, SF

Purdy's numbers have fallen and availability worries have worsened over the past couple of campaigns, but the stars might be aligning for a huge bounce-back. Mike Evans' arrival gives San Francisco a go-to target in the red zone, and Deebo Samuel's return gives this offense two all-purpose backs (along with Christian McCaffrey) to keep opposing defenses perpetually off-balance. Purdy is best when he has a wealth of playmaking talent around him, and the 49ers might have given him exactly that.

Running Back: Cam Skattebo, NYG

Only injury slowed down Skattebo during his rookie season, as he piled 617 scrimmage yards and seven touchdowns into eight games, the last of which was cut short by a season-ending ailment. He looks healthy now and in charge of a Giants backfield that could be plenty busy under new coach John Harbaugh.

Wide Receiver: Ladd McConkey, LAC

McConkey's follow-up to an exciting rookie season was a pretty big clunker, as he battled both injuries and a larger than expected role for the since departed Keenan Allen. New playcaller Mike McDaniel stresses quick connections and getting playmakers into open spaces, which should have McConkey primed for a full-fledged breakout.

Tight End: Chig Okonkwo, WAS

The Commanders signed Okonkwo to a three-year, $30 million deal this offseason, and they just might see an immediately significant return on their investment. Okonkwo could be the second option in this aerial attack, and his numbers could erupt while working with his most talented quarterback to date in Jayden Daniels.
