Brie Bella Reveals Major Injury in Update After WWE SummerSlam and Heel Turn on Paige with Nikki

Paul KasabianAug 4, 2026

Brie Bella revealed that she suffered a broken right scapula (shoulder blade) during her match at SummerSlam last Saturday.

The former Divas champion and women's tag team title holder revealed the news on Instagram on Monday.

"I wanted to thank you all for sending me all the love, warm wishes and prayers. When I was sitting in the hospital, I was reading everything you guys were sending my way, love you all!!! Unfortunately I'll be out for a bit. I broke my scapula. If there's one thing I know about my sister and I is that we don't let broken bones stop us. Not sure how I finished that match, but I do believe between the adrenaline, passion for the business and the love for all the women I work with, it gave me the drive to finish. Now my new journey starts!!

"Buddy said he's going to be my assistant, Birdie's going to be my nurse and they both told me that daddy is going to be my personal chef, so I am set!! if there is one thing I know about Brie Mode, she always finds a way to come back to her wrestling home. Let the recovery begin."

Brie, twin sister Nikki Bella and Paige lost to Fatal Influence in a six-woman tag match. During and after the match, Brie appeared to be favoring her right shoulder. It's unclear exactly what led to the injury, but PW Chronicle posited that it may have been a spot outside the ring by the steel steps.

After the match, Paige raised the Bella twins' hands as they looked out onto the crowd, but Nikki Bella turned on Paige and attacked her. Brie got a kick in but was seen holding her shoulder at this point and then later on when she walked back up the ramp with her sister.

After Night 1 ended, Triple H revealed on the post-show that Brie Bella went to the hospital for tests, per Steve Carrier of Ringside News.

"I don't have an update yet. She had some treatment here and has been taken to the hospital to get scans on it."

"I know her shoulder seems bad. I don't have that answer, though, but we will know soon."

Nikki Bella also had this to say on Busted Open Radio, per Steve Carrier of Ringside News:

"She's doing okay. She's in a lot of pain. They are still determining what's going on, and Brie will say what's going on. I've been told to zip it."

Now Brie Bella has revealed what happened. The hope, of course, is that she recovers ASAP and can compete soon enough.
