Micah Parsons Addresses Possibility of Playing for Packers vs. Cowboys in Week 6 Amid Injury Rehab

It remains to be seen when Green Bay Packers pass-rusher Micah Parsons will return from the torn ACL that cut short his 2025 campaign, but a showdown with his former team is in play.

Parsons told reporters Tuesday it's "very realistic" he could be on the field for the Week 6 game against the Dallas Cowboys.

"Is it possible? Yes, so I wouldn't say it's not possible. At the same time, in the next 10, 12 weeks from now, we've got to make it possible by putting the work in."

Dallas traded Parsons to the Packers ahead of the 2025 season, and it didn't take long for a matchup between team and player.

Green Bay and Dallas faced each other in September last season in what proved to be a memorable 40-40 tie. The star pass-rusher finished with three tackles and one sack.

It was part of an excellent individual start to Parsons' first season with the Packers, as he posted 12.5 sacks and two forced fumbles in 14 games before his December injury. The timing of the injury was particularly difficult for Green Bay, as it didn't have him for its playoff loss to the rival Chicago Bears.

It also meant the start of the 2026 season was up in the air given the usual timetable for an ACL recovery.

While the game against the Cowboys will generate plenty of headlines, the Packers surely don't want Parsons to rush back and risk further injury. They have realistic Super Bowl aspirations, and having him healthy and dominating on the field in December and January is more important than another head-to-head game with his former club.

Green Bay starts the season on Sept. 13 against the Minnesota Vikings, and it seems like Parsons won't be on the field for that one if he still isn't 100 percent sure about Week 6.

For now, though, he is rehabbing as he looks to get healthy and help lead the Packers on their playoff pursuit.
