Davante Adams Recalls Malachi Corley's Massive Demand for No. 17 Jets Jersey in Trending Video

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Davante Adams recently reminisced about he says was Malachi Corley's attempt to charge Adams $1 million for taking Corley's jersey number during their 2024 season with the New York Jets.

Adams was traded in October 2024 from the Las Vegas Raiders to the Jets, where Corley had worn No. 17 while playing his first two NFL games.

He followed up his arrival in New York by approaching Corley in the Jets locker room with $17,000 cash and a request to switch numbers, Adams said in a Tuesday vlog from FanDuel's Bussin' With The Boys.

"I'm thinking, this ain't nothing crazy, but certainly to give up your number as a rookie, you ain't did s--t yet," Adams said. "It was Week 6, and I think he'd played four plays at that point.

"I was like, you have no attachment to this right now. I'll pay for your whole family to get new jerseys... how about $17,000 for the number 17? He said, 'It's great to have you, big bro. I can't wait to learn from you. But I'm gonna need $1 million.'"

Adams continued, "I went straight to [Jets owner Woody Johnson] and said, 'Give me 17, bro.' And he just took it off him."

Adams first told the story about offering Corley $17,000 and being met with the $1 million counteroffer on a September 2025 episode of Why Is Draymond Green Talking About Football?

Corley ultimately switched to No. 14 ahead of Week 7. He was cut by the Jets ahead of the 2025 season and later donned No. 83 after signing with the Cleveland Browns.

Adams signed last March with the Rams. Star wide receiver Puka Nacua, who wore No. 17 for his first two NFL seasons, was at the time making a planned switch to No. 12 that allowed Adams to keep his longtime jersey number.
